Mother and Son Rescue Injured Dog

Thanks to the hard work of several veterinarians, a puppy that should have died is walking around, albeit minus one leg. A mother and son were riding on a California freeway when they saw the puppy being dragged behind a truck. The mother drove next to the truck and tried to get the driver to stop. He did not understand what she was saying and continued to drive. Luckily, the dog, which was attached to a rope, was released from its bonds when the rope snapped on a turn. The mother and son stopped to rescue the dog, which was badly injured. Somehow, the dog had only sustained a break to its back leg, which later had to be amputated.

A week later, the mother went to the humane society and was reunited with the puppy. She has since brought it home and introduced it to her son. The dog was named "Freeway" and despite its new handicap, seemed happy to be adopted by the family. Police do not have any leads on the driver of the truck or why the dog was being dragged behind it on the highway. If your dog has sustained injuries, it is advised that you seek treatment from a local veterinarian as soon as possible!
