How Often Should You Bathe Your Dog?

Do you own a dog?  If so, you know that over time, your pet can start to smell.  This is especially true if your dog likes to play outdoors and get into dirty messes.

As a dog owner, you may be wondering how often you should give Fido a bath.  However, the number of times a dog needs to be bathed with largely depend upon its breed, length of coat, and also what sort of activities it engages in regularly.  For example, a dog that is prone to romp in the mud will need to be washed more often than a dog that mostly stays indoors.

Generally, dogs don't need baths more than once a month.  If you bathe your dog too often, you can cause damage to its coat because continual washes may strip natural oils that are important for your pet to have.
